Hope is not a strategy for people engagement and productivity

At a time when productivity is drifting, costs are being squeezed and revenues are more challenged, it can be worth reflecting on how effectively aligned productivity is with people engagement.

Here’s a quick self assessment to understand how you are doing:

  • All employees understand our business plan and our big commercial goals
  • Every team has specific plans to ensure we deliver more and perform better in the next 12 months
  • Our leadership team meetings are regular, super effective and driving business success
  • We have a clear resourcing and skills plan, down to team level for the next 1-2 years
  • Everyone understands exactly how their role fits in with delivering our business plan
  • Every member of our senior leadership team is fully aligned to each other and our business goals
  • All our leaders always role model the expected behaviours in the business
  • All our managers hold their teams to account for results and manage under-performance effectively
  • All our senior leaders communicate well and instil trust in our teams
  • There are effective formal and informal routes for employees to give and receive feedback
  • Our  values are fully experienced by all and are driving our culture and our behaviour
  • We survey and gain employee feedback regularly and results tell us everyone enjoys working here
  • All our employees are proud to work here, job satisfaction and retention are high
  • We have a diverse and inclusive leadership team, and a workforce that we know reflects our customers and community.
